About Me
Hi, I’m Bobby — writer, comedian, hypnotherapist, deep listener, and full-time wanderer of the strange intersections between humor, meaning, and being human.
I’ve spent most of my life following curiosity wherever it tugged: into comedy clubs, wellness work, spiritual studies, writing projects, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and more recently, back into academia. The through-line has always been the same: I’m fascinated by people — how we think, how we heal, how we love, how we break, and how we put ourselves back together again.
What I Do (in a nutshell)
BobbyLandia is the home base for my creative world. Here you’ll find my books, experiments in storytelling, stand-up comedy, spoken-word pieces, short videos, and whatever new rabbit hole I’m joyfully falling into at the moment. Humor is my favorite way to soften people into deeper conversations, and creativity is the place where I feel most alive.
Alongside this playful, public side of my work, I also offer hypnosis and therapeutic deep listening through my practice, Listening Bear — a calm, judgement-free space where I help people reconnect with themselves, reframe old stories, and move toward gentler ways of living. If you’re looking for that work, you’ll find it at ListeningBear.org.
(BobbyLandia is for the weird, wonderful creative stuff. Listening Bear is for the healing.)
A Bit of My Backstory
I grew up in Arizona in a culturally blended family and spent my early adult years moving through unexpected chapters — including living in Mexico, working in wellness, and traveling nomadically in complete silence for several months as a personal experiment. Each stage left me with stories, perspectives, and a deeper appreciation for how varied human experience can be.
My comedy grew out of that same sense of curiosity: the belief that everything — even the hard stuff — can be softened when we allow humor to sit beside it.
My writing grew out of the opposite impulse: the need to be honest, to go inward, and to let things be as messy and meaningful as they truly are.
Both sides matter to me equally.
Current Chapter: Student Life
These days, I’m also a full-time student at Eastern Oregon University, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies and minoring in Anthropology & Sociology. Studying human behavior through academic lenses has only deepened my creative work — and my creative work has a funny way of showing up in my academic writing.
It’s all connected. It always has been.

What Matters to Me
Humor with heart. I love comedy that nudges people toward self-reflection without punching down.
Presence. Whether I’m listening to someone’s story or writing my own, presence is a superpower.
Creativity as healing. Every artistic thing I make is, in its own way, me stitching something back together.
Kindness without performance. I value quiet integrity more than loud branding.
Curiosity. It has carried me through every chapter of my life so far — and it’s not stopping anytime soon.
Beyond the Screen
I’m not a heavy social-media user, but I do pop in to share updates or new creative experiments. If you want to follow along:

No TikTok. No X. No billion-notifications-per-day apps.
Life’s too short for that, and I like my sanity.
